For Immediate Release:
Golden Smog on tour!
Rykodisc/Slow River artist JOSH ROUSE to open!

There's little in life you can guarantee as much as you can that a Golden
Smog show will deliver a damn good time. Their pure and simple brand of
stomping rock and acoustic laments draped in rich harmonies, is a proven
recipe for success. However, you can't always promise there'll be dates -
have you ever tried getting Kraig Johnson (Run Westy Run), Gary Louris (The
Jayhawks), Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum), Marc Perlman (The Jayhawks), Jody
Stephens (Big Star), and Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) in the same room? - but you can
rest assured that when they do get together, magic will happen. Take for
instance the new album, WEIRD TALES (RCD/RAC 10446), and then take yourself
out for a really great night when they come to your town. Which they are
doing. Soon.

The US tour kicks off December 4th in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly
Love, which is a seemingly appropriate start if you consider Gary's take on
the whole thing. "Some guys go on hunting trips or golf outings or do
something to show that they love each other without actually having to talk
about it," he says. "This is our way of doing that." Their historic South by
Southwest showcase in 1996 left those lucky enough to get in completely
elated and wanting more, and the tour that followed the release of DOWN BY
THE OLD MAINSTREAM received unanimous critical praise.

If that's not enough, Slow River/Rykodisc recording artist Josh Rouse will
open for Golden Smog on this series of dates. Josh has turned more than a
few heads since the release of his debut DRESSED UP LIKE NEBRASKA (SRR 36),
and live shows with Richard Davies, Lullaby for the Working Class and most
recently with Son Volt on their acoustic fall tour have bolstered his quiet
pursuit of the recognition he deserves.

A not-to-be-missed celebration of friendship and music, these Golden Smog &
Josh Rouse shows will not disappoint!

Josh Rouse's Dressed Up Like Nebraska is a dark-horse gem."

irresistible."
